KAMP Gallery presents Water Sign, a new collection of paintings by Portland-based artist Holly Osborne. The collection features works spanning Osborne's signature style and techniques — including abstract florals, sun-filled landscapes, and still lifes — showcasing her ability to channel deeply personal experiences into artworks that highlight the beauty and colors of everyday life.

KAMP's founder and Chief Creative Officer Dan Portrait recently got behind the mic with the Shorty Award's weekly podcast, It's No Fluke. At the end of 2020, KAMP took a break from our regularly scheduled (and remote) holiday gathering to share a few laughs with “A Holiday Special." This multi-segment variety show hosted on Twitch featured infomercials, musical performances, and appearances from the likes of Giraffage, Gia Seo, Raina Morris, Theo Martins, Yellowtechnica, FISK, and The Seasonal Cinephile himself, Ross Morrell.

KAMP Gallery presents Shrine, the debut solo exhibition by Will Matsuda. 

Since 2018, Matsuda has used photography and writing to examine the climate crisis, focusing on the surroundings near his home in Portland, Oregon. With the photographs of Shrine, exhibited here together for the first time, Matsuda draws from aesthetics of Japanese woodblock printmaking when interpreting these landscapes — the sky burns crimson, a tiny frog clutches a lily, a giant wave explodes into the night. He searches for the sublime while questioning the aestheticization of our existential crisis, ultimately meditating on the power of non-human animals, life, elements, processes, and cycles.

Custom laser-engraved frames and shelving were also produced for the show, connecting a loose mythology/ spirituality to the photographs. Big thanks to Portland-based musician Sqip, who provided a DJ set to soundtrack the opening night of the show.

KAMP ECD Justin Morris made a stop at the studio couches to share a collection of printed works from his personal library. From published works by friends and collaborators to experimental publications, the selections spanned a wide variety of ideas, inspirations, media, and materials. Mochi donuts from Mikiko kept spirits high.

KAMP hosted GLAMOUR & HEADSHOTS, a touring pop-up portrait studio by Robbie Augspurger this October at the office in Brooklyn, NY.

Robbie's unique style of blending studio portraiture of decades past with elements of humor, fantasy, and the uncanny has made getting into his studio a much sought after experience. From his home base of Portland, OR, he has collaborated with the likes of Balenciaga, Coach, CR Mens Book, and even legendary indie rocker Stephen Malkmus. Robbie's KAMP pop-up marks his first time bringing his nostalgic portraiture to the people of New York.

Cult launched their final issue with fans and supporters at New York City's Mood Ring, Little Tokyo Table Tennis in LA, and Barn Radio in Portland. Keep an eye out for more dates to come in 2025.

For the fall edition of KAMPUS Talks, KAMP entered into conversation with photographer, creative director and storyteller Ivan McClellan.

Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Ivan's career as a photographer and designer led him to a change encounter with the world of Black rodeo. This discovery sent Ivan on a seven year journey traveling across the country documenting and elevating Black cowboy culture, uncovering a world of extraordinary figures who are changing perceptions through a sense of pride, grit and independence.

In this second installment of KAMPUS Talks, Ivan takes from his experiences to shed inspiration on topics like leveling up in the creative industry, mastering the art of closing deals and how to align with our purpose.

LA based photographer, director, author, and all around creative guy Todd Selby joined KAMP on the big studio couches for a special end of the summer A.B.C. book club. Along with an A+ charcuterie board, Todd took us from his origin story as the prototypical suburban kid to his career as an influential lifestyle photographer with a vast body of work focused on the intimate, quirky, and colorful. We also learned Karl Lagerfeld served him a platter of Diet Coke and cookies once. 

Drawing from the perspective shift he went through after becoming a father, Todd's fourth book, The Selby Comes Home, is a kaleidoscopic look into the day-to-day of how people continue to live a creative life while raising a family. You can purchase the book here.

KAMP Gallery is proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Street Roots, a non-profit weekly newspaper providing Portland-based investigative journalism in the realm of social justice. The paper has built a large community of vendors and volunteers (of which KAMP is included), and is sold on the street by people experiencing homelessness and poverty as a means to make a sustainable living. The archive show consists of dozens of artifacts and artworks from Street Root's quarter century of publishing, including a preview of Jim Lommasson's ongoing series What I Carry and a new collection of portraits featuring Street Roots vendors by Gloria Baker Feinstein.

The annual KAMP Flea has returned to Brooklyn, this time around at Greenpoint restaurant, Achilles Heel. Shoppers gathered on a beautiful day to shop the vintage and artisanal selections from vendors curated by Josh Ilyas. Vendors included many familiar faces to the KAMP Flea as well as newcomers like Shana Sadeghi-Ray, who also designed the playful flyer for this year’s event.

KAMP Gallery presents Dawn Riders, the newest work from multidisciplinary artist Julian Klincewicz. The exhibition is the third installment of Klincewicz's Boys Grown Tall series, which explores the American semi-truck and interstate landscape as a dynamic symbol of tensions between play and power, imagination and reality, and commerce and creativity. Artworks from Dawn Riders span across photography, zines, large-scale prints, and replica toy trucks.

In 2022, photographer Guarionex Rodriguez Jr. was invited to document Sustain Release, an electronic music festival at Camp Kennybrook in Upstate New York. During the late nights of the festival he captured the hazy ephemeral scenes of dancers and strobing lights creating a visual language that mimics the electric and textural memories of those in attendance. In contrast to the nightlife photos, Rodriguez set up a portrait studio on the grounds during the day with open invitation for anyone who would like to be photographed.

In this poster book titled Assembly of Very Many Persons, these two photo series are placed onto 8 doubled sided foldout posters creating a holistic view of what this festival means to its participants. This limited print run is available now on the KAMP shop and at select retailers.

Brooklyn nightclub Mood Ring hosted a launch event for the book on June 23rd, 2024. Guests in attendance received signed copies and enjoyed a lineup of DJs featured throughout the book.

KAMP A.B.C: ASSEMBLY OF VERY MANY PERSONS

Thanks to a post-covid surge in popularity and ambassadors like Serena, Naomi, and Zendaya, tennis is hawt right now. Yet, tennis culture at large is still dominated by the stuffy, high-veneer shine of the country club. But for KAMP copywriter/"aspiring tennis professional" Logan Corcoran, the heart and joy of the game exists within the faded lines and sagging nets of his local courts. That’s why he's a contributor and supporter of Portland Tennis Courterly (@portlandtenniscourterly).


Operating with a DIY punk zine ethos, the Courterly is an open-source newsletter serving the racquet-curious throughout Portland, Ore. Printed for free at the library, each issue is hand distro’d to cafes, pro shops, and courts (admittedly in violation of Park Department code) across the city. PTC publishes everything tennis: first-person narrative fiction, profiles, interviews, “hard” news, satire, poetry, prose, art, comics, graphs, and whatever else translates well to 2D. 

Editor Tyler Pell sums it up like this: “At its core, I think the Courterly serves as a kind of funhouse mirror of the local tennis scene, and I hope it reflects back, at least from an angle or two, something that resembles the fourth estate, building a shared political consciousness around access to community resources.”


In addition to the newsletter, PTC also releases an ongoing “Pocket Pro Series,” mini-zines authored by local tennis folks and thinkers covering topics like match strategy, nutrition, the zen of tennis, and on-court fashions. Find the newest issue on cracked courts across Portland this summer.

KAMP is hitting the pitch this year as the proud jersey sponsor of the Portland Rugby Club Lady Pigs. Since 2009, this Women+ team has been a top competitor in the Pacific Northwest Rugby league, winning this season's division championships and securing a spot in the 2024 USA Rugby's Pacific Super Regionals. 

Off the field, the Lady Pigs continue their mission to promote the sport of rugby though fundraising and charitable contributions, volunteering with local organizations like Store to Door, SOLVE Oregon, and St. Vincent de Paul's Adpot-A-Family Program. Go Pigs!

We're excited to announce KAMPUS Talks, a series of lunchtime conversations with some of the talented individuals in the KAMP network and beyond. We closed out Black History Month in conversation with one of our talented friends of KAMP - Bimma Williams.

Bimma is a digital creator, podcast host, and cofounder of creative content agency Claima. On the popular podcast Claima Stories, Bimma Williams interviews leading and emerging creatives like Tyler the Creator, Dapper Dan, Aleali May, and a wide range of innovators and icons about how they were able to build their own tables by turning their hobbies, side hustles, and ideas into thriving small businesses.

In this first installment, we learn more about Bimma’s professional journey, tips & tools for staying authentically connected to yourself and your work, his take on Black excellence, and more.

KAMP Gallery presents “Smile! You Are A Camera”, a new installation and performance by Portland based collective, Spoiler Room. Over the past 10 years, they've hosted countless events featuring live DJ set recordings, establishing them as a Portland nightlife staple. This unique audio-visual experience and music curation centers upcoming and legendary musicians, broadcasting on Oregon Public Access TV and their own archive website. Learn more at spoilerroom.net.

KAMP Gallery and Ren Magazine joined forces to host “Dame Was Here”, a photo show exploring Damian Lillard’s legacy with the Portland Trail Blazers. The show featured photos by Trail Blazers photographer Bruce Ely and reporter Casey Holdahl with music by Drae Slapz.

The opening included an intimate Q&A between Bruce and Casey and the release of a new Damian Lillard zine by Ren Magazine. Sales from the show benefited The Boys and Girls Club of Portland.

With the event opening the night of Dame's homecoming head-to-head with his former team, news stations KGW8 and Willamette Weekly were on the ground to report on the happening. Full coverage here.

KAMP, with Uber Eats and Taco Bell, took the cultural relevance of cereal and a Taco Bell dessert staple, added milk, and turned it into a breakfast must-have. Cinnamon Twists Cereal caused a stir across the internet; boxes now go for double and triple the cost on eBay, news stations picked up the story, and it even made a cameo on Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Kamp Flea returns for the holiday season with a coat drive in support of Comunidad Primero and their continued efforts to help migrant and asylum seekers stay warm this winter. Friends and family gathered to support the cause and enjoy the flea; including eats from Ego Death NY and Pisces Rising Vegan, all taking place at  Honey's BK.

We commissioned multidisciplinary artist Chris Cadaver to create illustrations for the flea. The artwork promoted the event and was featured on a glass mug that was given away for every coat donation.

Kamp Gallery presents "A Billion Little Sentinels," a new video installation by ***X L** (Alex Lee) with a live score by MSC on Oct 6th. ***X L** is a self-taught anti-disciplinary artist. Their practice at large includes sculptural collage, video + sound collage, performance art, experimental exchange, and fashion design. They’ve shared work in Tokyo, Seoul, New York City, Los Angeles, and Reno in both conventional and unconventional gallery settings. A Billion Little Sentinels is their first public display of work in Portland.

Alongside the video installation, L** created a limited edition newspaper print zine titled “@ [at] ODDS” as well as a selection of one-of-a-kind t-shirts made using surplus military shirts.

KAMP Digital Project Manager and music enthusiast Blake Carrillo (aka @cinemaminimal) shares his latest Minimal Mix. With a blend of ambient and Alternative Rock, this playlist has been helping us to get a little work done in the office. Blake has been building these mixes for a few years now, so we decided to ask him a few questions about the series.

What kind of songs make it into the mixes?

Typically they’re all songs I absolutely adore, whether they’ve been in my life for a long time or are a brand new song crush. Tracks that grip me the most usually have some sort of unexpected emotional reaction and I end up listening to them on repeat. I super appreciate underground music or stuff that’s outside of the mainstream, usually since they take an uncommon melody path or have interesting production. So any chance to shine a light on music that is underrated / under-promoted or fresh sounding is always a pleasure for me.


Stylistically and sonically, each song and placement are important to me as well - they’re not intended for shuffle lol! I love to try and create a flow or vibe whether totally hyper, super mellow or evenly balanced. I think that came from going to punk shows that were usually full blast for hours and needing some downtempo balance for the drive home, going to raves as a kid in the 90s and appreciating the thoughtfulness put into their set. The wave-effect of breakdowns and drops are so physically reactive and I love it. Of course these mixes are all just standard individual songs and not mixed live or anything, but I sort of use that as a north star for overall feeling.

Does the amount of songs in each mix play into it?

Usually it’s more about the overall timing than amount of songs. I like to keep them right around an hour so that they don’t seem intimidating or get too stale. There’s a couple mixes that break that rule, but not often. I’d rather leave someone wanting more than getting overly sick of whatever they’re listening to.

How long have you been making these?

I’ve been making the minimal mixes since the spring of 2017 probably around when spotify was released, but I’ve been making playlists in itunes since the early 2000s. Back in the 90s I use to make cassette mixtapes and then evolved into burning mixes on CD-Rs friends, so I guess this is just the most current form of that for me.

What made you start?


I think in general I’m always looking for ways or reasons to connect with people. Music is, of course, a great way to do this and it’s forever funsies for me to talk about. I want to share this excitement with anyone interested and learn more from others also. Part of me is also inspired by other music-heads at Kamp who are constantly sharing playlists and DJ mixes. I wanted to not only consume, but also share my musical tastes with the crew…. even if these mixes mostly just consist of 90s emo bands and ambient music lol! xox

Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair (LAABF) made its return to Los Angeles at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. For the first time, Cult Classic tabled the fair alongside a lineup of publishing peers. Cult also hosted the opening party for the fair at the Ace Hotel with a stacked lineup of DJs and projected visuals from multimedia artist Billie Ocean.

With this being the fair's return to Los Angeles there was a sense of excitement amongst vendors and attendees. Fans of the magazine old and new stopped by the table, shopping the Cult Classic archive as well as a specialty tote that became a coveted offering for fair-goers.
